Overview

The Manage Columns dialog lets you rename a column, merge two columns into one, or delete a column, from a contacts or companies list.

Renaming a Column

Choose a column, then enter a new name. Only the column name changes, existing data is not affected. If the column is still used in one or more saved views, RevyOps blocks the rename and lists the views by name. You need to remove or replace the column in each view before you can rename it.

Merging Columns

Merging combines two columns into one and lets you choose where the result is saved: into a new column, or into one of the two source columns. The merge flow shows you:
  • The source column and the column to merge.
  • A New column name and New column type, if the merge creates a new column.
  • How values will be converted, when the two columns don’t share the same type. RevyOps explains this as:
    Values from <column> will be saved as <type>. Nothing is rounded, shortened or dropped: any value that can’t be saved will stop the merge.
  • When both columns have a value for the same record, which side to keep. RevyOps shows how many records have conflicting values in both columns.
  • A Merge outcome summary showing which columns will remain and which will be removed.
  • A preview of example rows before you confirm.
Merging removes the column(s) that don’t become the destination. The merge outcome panel lists exactly which columns will be removed before you confirm.
If a pair of columns can’t be merged, RevyOps shows a warning with a Why this happens explanation and an action to choose another column.

Deleting a Column

Choose a column to delete. RevyOps shows how many non-empty values it holds and a preview of sample values. If the column is still used in one or more saved views, deleting is blocked until you remove or replace it in each view. Otherwise, RevyOps warns that the column will be removed from every record, clearing its values, and that this cannot be undone. You need to type DELETE to confirm.
Default, system, and calculated columns can’t be deleted. Only custom columns can be deleted.

System-Filled Columns

Some columns are filled in automatically by RevyOps rather than by you, for example status history, do-not-contact fields, and counters. These are locked from merging and renaming because writing into them directly would corrupt that automatic bookkeeping. Locked columns show a reason in the column picker, such as:

Hovering a cell that holds more than one value (or a value too long to fit) shows a tooltip with the full content.

Resizing Columns

You can drag the edge of any column header to resize it individually. The column visibility panel also has a Column widths slider that sets a uniform width for every data column at once. Use Reset to default to return to the default widths. If you’ve resized individual columns, a hint below the slider tells you to drag it to make the columns uniform again.
